The Proud Geek blog has been reporting on additional methods for getting captions on your web videos. Thus far, he has posted about Jumpcut and Windows Movie Maker.
Thanks for linking to these articles on my blog! I plan to do more over the next couple weeks (or so). And thanks too for listing a few more options on your homepage as well -- I'll try those out.
There is some new s/w for the Mac I just downloaded from Versiontracker that makes doing captions/subtitles really easy. It's called MovCaptioner. It much easier to use than some of the others I've tried. Basically, as they say, you can add captions as quickly as you can type. And you can also make a complete transcript of your captions at the click of a button. Price is $22, which I think is well worth it for the ease of use. Oh, you do need to have QT Pro, but I think people who have tried to do this the manual way probably already have it. Anyway, here is the link if you want to try it out: http://www.slidesnow.com/movcaptioner
There is a new version of MovCaptioner out now. This version will allow you to make captioned movies in SMIL and Flash formats as well as QuickTime. You can also create transcripts with timestamps now, too. There are other improvements in the interface that make it easier to use as well.

I have been using Overstream to create captioned movie trailers.
Do you know if there are any guidelines for creating them "properly"?
